Cat show ‘14 opens with more to see
KUCHING: Sarawak Cat Show 2014 opened at the Cat Museum, Bukit Siol, yesterday with the launch of two exhibitions and a new addition of a personal collection.
Sarawak Cat and Borneo Jungle Cat Gallery and Exhibition offer visitors a chance to learn about the biology, distribution, protection status and main threat to the Borneo Jungle Cat.
Meanwhile, the section on Sarawak Cat carries information about our local feline. The opening yesterday also added the personal collection of the late Dr Betty Jamie Chung of Hong Kong, which she bequeathed to the Cat Museum upon her demise.
The collection consisted of 517 cat-related items and took many years to build.
Dr Chung visited the Cat Museum in the early 90’s and was impressed by the museum’s work in showcasing her favourite animal.
Datin Dayang Horiah Dato Sri Abang Zainuddin, the wife of DBKU Datuk Bandar Datuk Abang Wahab Abang Julai launched the exhibitions.
DBKU director Dr Saadiah Abdul Samat was also present.
The feline fun continues today with the Cat Show, and various other activities that will delight the cat loving community here.
This year is the fourth year of the Sarawak Cat Show, organised by DBKU.
